Keynote: “Word of God: Transforming Power of Ministry”
Dr. Carole EipersThis
year’s keynote address, “Word of God the Transforming Power of
Ministry” will be presented by Dr. Carole Eipers. Both liturgy and
catechesis find their foundation as disciples of Jesus Christ and in
our vocation to ministry. What is the place of Sacred Scripture in
catechesis and liturgy? How can Scripture foster the intimate
connection between liturgy and catechesis? How do we proclaim the
Word of God in our ministries and invite others to transformation?
Carole Eipers will offer her insights by using her own unique style
and humor to inspire and motivate us to a more faith filled response
to our ministries.
Dr. Carole Eipers is Vice
President, Executive Director of Catechesis for William H. Sadlier,
Inc. She served in parish ministries for over 20 years as a teacher,
Director of Religious Education, Youth Minister and Pastoral
Associate. She has been a member of the adjunct faculties of
Mundelein Seminary, Loyola University Chicago and Catholic
Theological Union, Chicago. She holds a MPS degree from Loyola
University and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Graduate
Theological Foundation in Indiana. |
Is
this for Youth Ministers? Yes!
Youth Ministers ARE Catechists, and as such you will find lots of
content throughout the day to assist you in building a better
ministry. Included: Confirming the Faith of Adolescents (Sr.
Kieran Sawyer), The Faithful Home the Catechist Builds! (Bob
Meaney), Journey of Grace: The 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit
(Dr. Joan Crist), Sexuality and Chastity Education (Sr.
Kieran Sawyer), and we are pleased to bring back to the diocese my
personal friend and colleague, Jim Chesnes. He was the keynoter at
the first Grásta Dé Middle School YM event in 2007. As a YM AND a
licensed counselor, Jim talks to YM's about tackling those difficult
situations and facing your hurting teens, and how to provide a healing response, even if you're
NOT licensed! |

Youth Ministry Presenter: “The Elephant in the Youth Room”
James Chesnes, M.S., LMHC
Today’s adolescents face pressures
never before seen: depression, addiction, abuse, family crisis,
sexual pressures and more. You know “how” to do ministry but where
do you turn if you need professional help. This workshop includes a
“State of the Youth” address and a frank discussion on how to
provide pastoral care for youth in need.
Jim Chesnes has been in full time
professional youth ministry for nearly 25 years. He has spent much
of that time serving his home parish of St. Paul of the Cross (North
Palm Beach, FL) in various capacities, including as Youth Minister,
Confirmation coord., and most recently as the director of RCIA &
family ministry. He has also worked with organizations including
Young Life and Life Teen. Jim gained a unique perspective on youth
ministry in 2000, when he began his private practice as a licensed
Mental Health Counselor, serving adolescents, adults and families.
Jim resides in Jupiter, Florida with his wife Laura, a teen daughter
(Mary) and a teen son (Max). |
