About the logos...

At the heart of this design is the heart of our Catholic faith: Jesus' death and resurrection on the cross. The "X" in "Xperience" is drawn to emulate the cross at Calvary. We are reminded that we too must enter into a paschal mystery: a dying of self so that we might live (John 12:24).  The cross reminds us of the great sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation.  The bright image of Jesus reminds us that Jesus rose from death to life!, from darkness to light (1 Peter 2: 9, 10), and by His cross and resurrection we too are called to rise up and live! The image of Jesus in the logo is one of joy and action!  As a collection of young pilgrims, we gather at CYX to be inspired by His Word and as a faith community be fed for the journey, so that when we return to our hometowns we will continue to BE a Jesus of joy and action for all those we meet! (Matthew 28:19)

The logo was created by Mr. Jim Hoogeveen, who has designed many images for diocesan youth events, as well as the mural art for Hildebrandt Hall at St. Mary in Griffith.  Jim is the husband of St. Maria Goretti (Dyer) Religious Education Director Kim Hoogeveen, a veteran diocesan youth event presenter.

A 2011 version of the CYX logo incorporates colors consistent with the 2011 primary theme images.

The primary theme images for 2011 were created by Jason Yurechko of Higher Ground Creative Media. Jason is an Andrean grad, a volunteer youth ministry leader, and a 2011 CYX Learning Session Presenter.

The "Transformers" image is an adaptation of the popular "Transformers" movie & cartoon logos & fonts. The "head" logo, however, is "more than meets the eye!" It contains Trinitarian imagery (3 crosses and a triangle). The red of the cross symbolizes Christ's sacrifice. The head in the image of a shield symbolizes St. Michael the Archangel, who protects us from negative and evil spirits. The cross at the center of the image is also appropriate for a CYX that features the traveling CYX Cross.
