A letter from Kev to youth leaders...

Dear Youth Leader(s):

I am Xcited and honored to present you with this complete packet of information for the 8th Diocese of Gary Catholic Youth Xperience, July 27-29, at Valparaiso University!

CYX is the showcase event for Catholic youth ministry in the Diocese of Gary. 3 Days of Faith and Fun! For the teens, it is the chance to meet other Catholic teens from throughout northwest Indiana they might otherwise never meet. It is their chance to xplore and xpress their love for Christ in a supportive environment. For adult leaders, it is a chance to give their teens a comprehensive Catholic faith formation xperience with relatively little work!

If you’ve never brought a group to CYX, we invite you to plant the seeds that we’re confident will bear much fruit! (Luke 8: 5-8) CYX is a program that enhances teens’ personal relationship with Christ, but also strengthens parish youth ministry efforts by giving adults a chance to journey with their teens before the new academic year. Studies, evaluations, and personal evidence proves it: programs like CYX have teens wanting to go to Church, wanting to participate in youth ministry, and wanting to learn more about their faith. If you’ve ever said, “Why do teens disappear after Confirmation?” you know how difficult it is to minister to H.S.-aged teens. CYX gives them a “WOW!” moment that will give you the boost you need to build stronger parish H.S.-aged youth ministry.

But CYX isn’t just for teens! Adult leaders leave CYX inspired, as well. CYX adult leaders consistently remark that one of their most rewarding xperiences is the chance to network with their peers and enhance their ministry.

At least one packet of information was mailed to each parish/cluster in the diocese, containing the key book, "Registration Info for Group Leaders" and promo posters. If you did not receive it, and you are the one entrusted with bringing a group, fret not! You can get everything you need as PDF files right here at the website. (Download the book at the "Registration" link.)  Inside that book you will find all you need to register your group for CYX. You can easily chart your progress by following the “CYX 2012 Timeline” page on the inside back cover.

Today’s high schoolers need us. The time is now to give them this environment. The time is now to give them a Catholic Youth Xperience! On behalf of the 2012 CYX Planning Team, I look forward to working alongside you on that mission!
